Motorcyclist pronounced dead at scene of crash after colliding with towed equipment

UTC Jun 2, 2018 A motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash on Highway 9, just west of Highway 86, or about five miles west of Spirit Lake, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report. Joshua Frank Huff, 32, of Harris, Iowa, was driving west on Highway 9, towing a large piece of farm equipment, when he began to turn left into a private field drive. Glenn Charles Paine, 56, of Spirit Lake was traveling on a motorcycle west on Highway 9 and attempted to overtake Huff. Paine collided with the towed equipment while Huff was making his turn. Paine died at the scene and was transported to Turner Funeral Home. Huff suffered no injuries. The collision remains under investigation.
